How do I build a database reactivation campaign for a client's past customers?
Database reactivation means messaging a business's past customers to get them to come back and buy again. Most businesses do nothing with their past customer list, which makes it easy low hanging fruit and one of the common services agencies sell.
Give customers a reason to come back: an annual roof inspection for a roofer, an annual AC inspection or refrigerant top-up for an HVAC company, a free first adjustment for a chiropractor, or a free personal training session or free month for a gym.
To build it by hand:
- Go to Agents and create an agent. You can start from a website, which crawls the site and loads the business FAQs and facts, or start from scratch.
- Open the agent's workflows (an agent can have several) and create one named, for example, Database reactivation. Set the trigger to Manual, because the client usually sends a spreadsheet of past customers that you load and launch yourself.
- Add a message step (email or SMS). Treat it as an opening message that starts a conversation, for example "Get your free roof inspection this year. Reply to this email." Use variables such as the company name and the agent's name so the workflow is reusable. For email, connect the client's email account and use the text editor, the visual editor or a template.
- Add a wait step (for example one day), then an SMS, another wait, another email and so on. A sequence can run seven days, fourteen, thirty or longer. Use the auto layout button to tidy the canvas, then name and save the workflow.
- Turn on the channel (email, SMS) for the agent, on the number or mailbox you send from, so the AI listens and replies when someone responds, following the agent's instructions.
- To let the AI book appointments, open the agent's Tools, add the built in Bookable tool and choose the calendar or bookable (for example a free roof inspection). In the prompt, tell the AI when to use it, typing @ to tag the tool, for example "anytime someone is interested in a free roof inspection, book it using this tool."
To run it, import the client's contacts into their account, go to Contacts, select the contacts and choose Assign to an agent. Search for the workflow, set a drip so they are not all contacted at once (for example 30 per hour, Monday to Friday, nine to five) and click Schedule.
Or ask the AI assistant to build it. Describe the business type and name, the offer, the channels (text and email), the length (for example a seven day sequence) and that it should create the agent and the workflow with best practices. Put everything in your first message: that is cheaper in credits than editing afterwards. A typical result sends an SMS and waits for a reply; if the person replies, it tags them and responds, and if not, it moves on to the next email or text. You can edit any message afterwards.
